Health benefits of Turnips
We often talk of potatoes, carrots, reddish and spinach for their many health benefits. But we seldom talk of turnips – may be for the reason that these a typical taste, sometimes a bit strong, and may therefore not be on the ‘like’ list of many. But let me tell you if turnips are made lovingly by the lady of the house, you would love her more for having introduced to you to turnips.
Turnips are rich in Vitamin C, which is a water soluble antioxidant to help our bodies scavenge harmful bacteria and radicals. Turnips are also a good source of B-complex group of vitamins, which are rich in folates, riboflavin, pyridoxine, pantothenic acid and thiamin.
So eat turnips in plenty as these are available round the year for their many health benefits like making bowel movements easier, reducing blood pressure, fighting cancer, helping weight loss and marinating a good vision.
Those who smoke heavily must eat turnips as it contains vitamin A which is good for lungs health, which gets deteriorated by smoking.
However, being rich in nitrate, these may not interact with certain medicines used of heart related diseases and doctor be consulted before eating these regularly.
