Home Remedies For Cough
1. HONEY
Honey is soothing and really helps calming the cough. 1 teaspoon 2-3 times a day.
It does an incredible job at coating and soothing the throat.
2. SALT WATER GARGLE
salt water is useful to sooth the inflamed tissues and helps with soar throat as well as reducing cough.
1 tablespoon of salt in a glass of water, gargle 15 seconds and spit. Repeat until out of water.
3. THYME TEA
A nice tea made with fresh thyme relaxes the muscles of the trachea and bronchi and increases airflow, resulting in less cough and more comfort.
Lightly crush the thyme, put in boiling water, and let steep for 10-15 minutes before drinking. You can add lemon or honey to taste.
4. WARM MILK WITH HONEY
Sipping warm milk lightly sweetened with honey is a comforting and soothing thing when I have a cough.
It helps with the soar throat and I just love holding the warm mug and sipping the milk, especially before going to bed.
5. LEMON JUICE
Lemon juice has vitamin C and is very acid, so it helps fighting the infection. I drink lemon juice on it's own or mixed with honey.
Some people create a syrup with lemon juice, honey and cayenne pepper, but I have ever tried that.
Since there are lots of people fighting a bad cough out there this time of the year, I wanted to share my top 5 remedies. Hopefully they'll help someone.
